From Mike Priwer on SW forum. George F Herold was a NYC PD Officer who, on retirement, took over a gun shop across the street (Center Market Place) from the NYC PD early headquarters. The street had several gun shops on it, and his became known as G F Herold Company, The company was a large distributor of guns to Law Enforcement entities, and dealt mostly with the M&P configuration.
