Description

Shipped to Simmons Hardware in St Louis in June of 1897. Factory refinished in September of 1949 (repair date stamped inside grip frame. Invoice of re-finish included along with the factory historical letter. $1695

I received this gun in a trade with Brian Pearce. I have not shot it but Brian advised he and his sons had shot it. All functions as designed.

Repair invoice indicated the owner was SH Gaylord Jr with a Chicago address.

I did a little online researching & found some interesting history. S.H. Gaylord is most likely Sol Harry Gaylord son of Solomon Harry Goldberg (maybe changed name to avoid antisemitic sentiment??). Findagrave lists Sol Harry Gaylord as the son of Solomon Goldberg. Sol Jr. received a patent for a fountain pen gun in 1954. Solomon Goldberg founded the Hump Hairpin Manufacturing Company in Chicago. In 1915 he designed a ridged hairpin designed not to fall out with the bobbed hair cut of the day. Also known as the bobby pin.
